Our Team
Keith Morgan, LCSW, Clinical Director
Originally from Florida, I relocated to the Chicagoland area in 2014 after completing my Masters in Social Work at Louisiana State University. Since then, I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings supporting young adults, adolescents, and families. Throughout my career, I have noticed the difficulties and challenges that transitions and changes in life can cause a person. Whether a parent and adolescent struggling to navigate their changing relationship or an emerging adult faced with the challenges of life transitions, I have developed a passion for providing support during these significant periods. These times of uncertainty can provide opportunities for growth and positive change by being intentional about choices and aware of your strengths.
I approach therapy as a process - working together with my clients to establish a safe environment suitable for exploring choices, vulnerabilities, and obstacles. Using a variety of techniques, I develop a treatment plan in collaboration with my client - one that aligns with their own version of wellness and goals. By guiding my client to increased self-awareness and insight, they will be able to build resiliency and foster positive change.
Mitch Morgan-DUnham, Director of College Counseling
Growing up in southwestern Michigan, Chicago is not far from my hometown of St. Joseph. Immediately after undergrad, I began my career and worked for five years at Lake Forest College. I have since made the move to a non-profit organization helping high-achieving students gain acceptance to top colleges and universities across the nation. While an Associate Director of Admissions at Lake Forest, I trained staff on our holistic application review process including the review of essays and an evaluation of admissions interviews. Overseeing the admissions committee and the release of all application decisions, I reviewed thousands of student applications. Throughout my time at Lake Forest, I also served administratively to oversee campus visit programs, plan receptions, host informational panels, and award merit-based scholarships. I now use all that I have learned during this time to assist with providing students and families insight into the ever-changing world of college admissions.
Chloe Brodner, LCPC, Therapist
I was born and raised in Chicago and completed my Master’s in Counseling Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings and have worked with children, teens, young adults, and their families. Over time, I have gained experience in working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, and substance abuse. I believe that positive change can occur through a trusting therapeutic relationship. At times, I utilize evidence-based treatments like DBT and CBT, but most importantly I focus on a collaborative approach tailored to the client’s unique treatment goals.
In sessions together, I provide understanding, support, and a gentle spirit. I bring compassion and humor into the room while I listen to others’ stories, secrets, and struggles. At times, I incorporate music and positive quotes/mantras into sessions if it fits. Above all else, I strive to create a safe environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your story. On a personal level, I enjoy listening to music and exploring new restaurants and places in the Chicagoland area.
Monica Garcia, LPC, Therapist
Originally from Chicagoland, I’m excited to continue to work with and support those who live in and around this great city. After graduating with my Master’s in Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, I am intent on helping individuals who are experiencing anxiety or depression stemming from relationship, self-esteem, and identity issues. I ground my approach in relational-cultural therapy, fostering a space where clients are invited to be their true selves in the room and grow to feel comfortable with all aspects of their being. Navigating a world where relationships with others can be impacted by your relationship with yourself and your identities, I strive to create a space where clients can explore and build confidence in who they are.
I joined Emerge Counseling Chicago because here, we are dedicated to supporting clients with all backgrounds, ideals, and beliefs. I have worked in a variety of settings with individuals and groups and cherish the opportunity to provide support to my clients. When called for, I also bring interventions from CBT and DBT into the room, providing space to identify negative thoughts and navigate themes of change and acceptance.
Shaina Wright, LPC, Therapist
I grew up in New York and spent most of my life on the east coast before relocating to Chicago. Prior to going into clinical work, I had a career in social-justice oriented non-profits, including international organizations and education. I value and affirm diversity of all kinds, and am constantly working to expand my own knowledge and integrate new perspectives.
It’s such a privilege to work with people in therapy! Therapy offers such a meaningful, unique opportunity to reflect and receive support. It gives us a chance to take a step back from what’s often overwhelming or taken for granted in our day-to-day lives, and really consider what we want, what’s working for us, and what we want to change or let go of. It also gives space to really recognize and overcome the obstacles that are holding us back. Our environments and our own brains can create so much distress and struggle, and this can overwhelm us to where we lose ourselves, or we end up coping by pushing things away. Therapy is a safe place to bring these challenges to the surface so that we can work through them and find a way to move forward that’s more balanced and fulfilling. It’s wonderful to partner with clients as they grow, take risks, and build new ways forward.
